But passwords need to be enabled for SSH. You must submit a faulty password of a specific kind, and the SSH server misinterprets it for passwordless accounts, which means the server must be configured to allow you to attempt a password.

The “are you affected?” section directly contradicts this. It outright states you must have password authentication enabled. Otherwise, SSH never gives you a chance to even attempt a password.

If I recall correctly, and I might not so feel free to correct me, they basically sell ads at a discount relative to data miners like Google. They can’t target as well, so they don’t get to collect that premium, but they can still sell ads targeted at your search keywords.

but I have some ideas that might be called fascist here
That’s a hell of a thing to just gloss over when asking for more nuance, especially these days.
I don’t think Keepass does syncing. I just leave the database in my Nextcloud sync folder on my desktop, and I can always pull the latest version to my phone. It’d be a bit more annoying if I routinely added new entries from my phone since Android won’t let the NC app maintain bidirectional sync, but I pretty much always do it from my desktop, so the workflow is fine for me personally. If you do it on your phone, you can upload the changed version, but I think you’d have to do it manually, so not a great flow, but if it’s a rarity, not too big a deal to me.
Because Andy is the CEO, which means he gets to make a lot of the important decisions, not the people who don’t like him.

Sure, but they can’t just let us plebs threaten their dominance in other areas.

people not voting because they didn’t get their candidate is what hurt more than how corporate dems pushed him to the side.
Sure, but I’m talking about the politicians, as that’s what the controlled opposition theory is about. Democrat voters may want progressive policies, but Democrat politicians find ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory when they “push” for those things time and time again. The politician’s goal is allegedly not to represent the left, but to spoil their efforts and prevent us as a country being dragged to the left. Hillary and Kamala were both pushed into the lead with no regard for the will of the voters, albeit through different means in each case, and they both help shut out more progressive wings of the party so they couldn’t get genuine power.
because they didn’t get their candidate
On the one hand, you’re not exactly wrong. We got fucking Trump out of that, and it’s still haunting us a decade later. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s entirely fair to treat them like petulant children for being upset when the democratic process is so flagrantly manipulated in front of their face to rob them of their democratic power, just because the means used to do so were technically legal. I still think Bernie would have won the primary if the DNC hadn’t sabotaged him, and just fucking imagine the world we’d be living in if we got just 4 years of Bernie instead of god damned Trump. That was the will of the voters. And the DNC stole that from us to shove a corporate Democrat down our throats, enabling Trump’s rise.

Controlled opposition is defeatist conspiracy theory half baked in truths.
Next time you’re wondering why Dems aren’t doing more about some problem, I want you to remember what they did to Bernie Sanders and how they react to people like Mamdani. Dems are somehow fucking worthless in the face of fascism, but if a progressive starts winning votes, suddenly, they know how fight.

And they will continue to until the expense to them is enough to make it unprofitable.

Don’t worry, Reddit has their top people on the job to fix it, and in a stroke of brilliance, they’re going to *checks notes* …requiring everyone to login even to view?
Yeah, this Ouroboros is about to choke to death on itself.

Nah, I just let them burn their money for absolutely nothing while I ignore it. Eeeevery once in a while, when I’m having shit luck finding what I want, I might check the sources on the AI bullshit, but I never actually listen to the AI.

Guess I need to make sure I get my email server up before the next renewal. Since that was recent, hopefully way before next renewal.
I’m not sure I can win the war for deliverable self-hosted email, and I send almost no email ever anyway, so I’m considering setting up a server that accepts email directly but relays outgoing mail through a relay that’s actually trusted by email providers. Can anyone recommend good relays for that?

I think the best option for self-hosters who don’t want too much headache from their email is to host the email yourself, but send your emails through a relay other providers actually trust. It sucks to get so close to full control and give it up, but if you’re like me, you send almost no email, so there’s almost nothing at all to see for the relay, and all your received mail still comes straight to your server.

Hydrogen is also a huge pain to store. It’s really hard to keep it from leaking.

I hadn’t heard this theory before, but it does actually make a lot of sense.

Yeah, but I don’t think most cables have the HEC functionality built in. I think it’s a variant of HDMI in the same way that not every HDMI supports the same max resolution and frame rate.

(EDIT: as pointed out by @[email protected], there is a bidirectional Ethernet channel in the HDMI HEC, so I was wrong in what I wrote above)
I think this only works with specifically HDMI HEC cables. This is separate from the CEC functionality used, e.g., for one remote to control both devices. I don’t think most HDMI cables have HEC, and I don’t really think Amazon/Google/Roku have a ton of incentive to help TV manufacturers compete with them for user data, so the included or directly attached cable on most devices probably doesn’t have HEC support.

So they got you to install their launcher for data mining, then?
If Tor became an even semi-popular way to maintain connection to ungated websites, I guarantee the relay count explodes.
