This is a really good point. AI has opened a Pandora’s box, multiple boxes even, and I don’t think it/they will ever be closed again. At least the confusion and noise that it generates seems like it will never go away. It will eventually become impossible to determine if something contains AI or not, if it isn’t already.

Then there’s issue of someone running a local model trained on their own original content and then having AI crank out work in their style, which to me would seem to be even harder to spot.

Sure, it makes sense now that I’ve seen the recommendations, but previously I just assumed that it worked instantly on contact. I’m guessing that the majority of people haven’t considered the mineral deposition rate of fluoride in toothpaste. :)

Click your username on the upper right, then Settings, then scroll down and you will see a checkbox where you flag your account as a bot account. You can also search your account settings page for “bot”.

BTW, the vast majority of people here go by nicknames instead of real names, for anonymity, privacy, and I suppose security reasons.

There’s also some instances that are seemingly trolling, some that seem state sponsored and local to certain nations that have to toe the line of the authoritarian regime opinions.

I’ve updated my comment. I wouldn’t have intuitively thought about this because why would I think that it would take time for Fluoride to take effect, or that whatever is left after rinsing wouldn’t do the job? Thanks.

Where did you learn this? I’ve never heard this recommendation before and it sounds pretty out there.

Edit: it turns out that apparently both the American Dental Association and the National Health Service of the UK recommend not rinsing immediately after brushing. Huh, TIL.

Not a very well-known movie, but the monster in The Funhouse (1981) - see the second clip in the videos section on that page if you want to see him. I don’t recall exactly how young I was, but I think between 10 and 12. I randomly watched this on TV one night and had nightmares about it for a while.

It was interesting to see his face again after all this time. A little bit different than I remembered but I still think he’s pretty freaky. It was also interesting to learn that this was directed by Tobe Hooper, of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist fame. I guess he has traumatized a lot of kids, just going by this thread.
