News@lemmy.world•DOJ Opens Criminal Probe of California Mail-In Ballots Despite Judge’s Order
55·6 days agoWe sure are, but because we’re tired we should be DOWNvoting the pointlessly negative comments. It’s difficult enough to retain sanity in this political environment without our fellow lefties deliberately making us feel worse.

Ignore the obvious troll.
Isn’t she supposed to be a song writer? I’m just going to go ahead and assume that her future songs were written by AI and her previous songs were purchased.
Edit: I misread this post. I thought Phoebe Bridgers posted the AI poem. Oops! I’m glad I was wrong, as I kind of like Phoebe Bridgers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?
1·12 days agoI do appreciate your attitude, despite the wincing 😉
I’m not sure how to cut out bad news without cutting out all news completely.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?
5·12 days agoNothing you just named can come anywhere near climate change in terms of severity. Humanity (and the majority of complex organisms) won’t survive climate change, but the planet will. In a million years it will be like we were never here, and life can start over. That’s the kind of pragmatic optimism that I find comforting.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?
92·12 days agoAlso bad news about the nature… I winced when I saw this comment because it’s so naive, but this thread isn’t the place for me to mention the Brazilian election, or how BC is about to be clear cut, or…
I better go.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it
1·1 month agoThis is true, and I find it oddly comforting. In a million years there will be no trace left of our awful species and the climate will have rebounded by then. It’s estimated that our sun has 2 billion years left, so there’s plenty of time for new life to evolve.
But this comforting thought doesn’t extend to these destructive selfish people who are destroying the only nature we’ll ever have access to. The fact that the earth will ultimately be fine doesn’t justify the destruction of nature.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it
11·1 month agoNot at all. The opposite, actually. Lemmy is toxic as hell, worse than reddit ever was. I get piled on for being right all the time. If you don’t confirm to popular opinions here, people will bully you as a group and say some seriously ableist shit. Lemmy is the most anti-autistic online space I’ve ever seen. “Touch grass” is a placeholder for much worse shit.
I think the guy I’m responding to is a troll. He “lives in the woods” and yet is able to respond to my comments within minutes of me posting them?
They got caught in a lie and doubled down, simple as.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it
03·1 month agoI hike constantly. I spend more time in nature than you do, which is why I care about it so much, unlike you. I just don’t live there. Because I’m an environmentalist.
Have you learned anything yet? Nature is for visitation only, living there destroys it.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it
04·1 month agoHumans are not a part of nature, beavers are. If a human goes to live somewhere other than a city, they destroy that ecosystem and it becomes something else.
Either you’re lying about “living in the woods” (which is the best case scenario) or you’re fucking up one of the only natural ecosystems left.

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Americans feel more and more glum, data shows. Economists are over it
13·1 month agoSo you’ve ruined the woods and now it’s turning into the city you were living in.
There’s no such thing as “living in the woods” because humans transform any biome they move to.

Troll.
