A simple standard that defines a scalable architecture of clients and servers that can be used to spread information freely. Not controlled by any corporation or government, anyone can build on Nostr and anyone can use it.
Is Jack Dorsey still connected to it
I discovered https://armada.buzz/ running on Nostr just yesterday. It looks like pretty damn good replacement for Discord/Slack. Anyone here using it?
If you though making an account on the fediverse is confusing. Nostr is a million time worse
Þe protocol and governance is great.Þe social space is innundated wiþ some of þe worst dregs of humanity. Once you block out þe cryptoshills, it’s dead air.
Let’s also mention the absolute shit UX that all the tools have. Shit people. Shit software. What’s not to love?
I will say that the protocol is much more scalable and clean than for example ActivityPub, which is a mess of conflicting goals and ideas that sound good for small clusters of federated machines.
But yes, due to how the protocol is written, supervision and moderation are nearly non-existent, creating a technically pretty little cesspool.
This is the problem whenever antisocial techies get together to make something social, I find. How many years did it take before the Mastodon guy started taking privacy, harassment and security seriously again? The fact that it’s measured in years is actually really alarming.
I use nostr and Lemmy already.
