Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit is becoming "a logged-in-only experience"English
4·7 days agoI used to look at Reddit every day, several times per day. Anymore, it is once or twice per month. And never very long, becaues the experience has fallen to a terrible low. My only disappointment in Lemmy is that a lot of the niche subs I used to use on Reddit are not here or are very small.

News@lemmy.world•Pope Leo diagnosed with lung cancer and has part of right lung removed, Vatican saysEnglish
23·22 days agoThis pope doesn’t live the lifestyle you suggest he lives. Two sets of clothes, austere meals, a simple bed, a desk, and not much else. Even his travels are for the good of others, as there’s not much to enjoy by those experiences for him. He may set the tone for many Catholics across the globe, but that’s the extent. He constantly pleas for an end to genocide in the Middle East. He shames the US president for having the wrong priorities. And he asks us to take care of our neighbors. You would think most people on this platform would like the guy. He has flaws, but so do all of us.

News@lemmy.world•Court rules trans women can be housed in men’s prisons & calls them men “who claim to be female”English
0·1 month agoThis creates new problems. Prisons are expensive to build and operate. Is a person’s desire to be viewed and treated as a gender other than the one provided by nature worth that cost?

What I want to know is “Will she hurt other people if released?” If she won’t hurt anyone, let her out. If she will, keep her locked up. But there’s no need to execute her. No good can come of it.
