News@lemmy.world•Ousted 60 Minutes correspondent Cecilia Vega on overhaul at CBS News: ‘It hurts to watch’
11·7 days agoCecilia Vega, the 60 Minutes correspondent fired as part of a dramatic overhaul of the CBS News show this spring, said it “hurts” to see what has happened to the storied newsmagazine and other segments of the network, and repeated allegations that she was told to insert “factually untrue” information into her work.
I’d reckon that in a fascist regime, “factually untrue” information would be a regular part of propaganda, however it’s delivered.

News@lemmy.world•To make AI morally good, tech companies are turning to religion. But some say it isn't that simple
121·12 days agoThe worst people I’ve known in my life were religious (Christian). I truly believe they like the idea they’re forgiven no matter how bad their actions, all they have to do is accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior! Now they’re free to run riot and their afterlife is just fine and dandy. Sorry, that ain’t moral.

7·20 days agoNot available on laptop, apparently. Only the mobile version? That’s what search said.
A photo at the top of the article shows MapQuest being used on a laptop. If MapQuest’s surveillance layer is not available on a laptop, the photo accompanying the article seems rather misleading.

62·21 days agoHow many times has it been the end of the world? When I was a kid, it was the Cold War, every day the newspapers had articles about how we were on the verge of nuclear war. Famine was another, there was not enough water for the crops. There was AIDS, we were all going to get ill and die of Kaposi’s Sarcoma. There’s got to be a list of these somewhere…
