Europe@feddit.org•Winter tyres in Europe, 2026–27: the rule in every country, week by week [OC]English
2·13 days agoThey are still functional tyres. I’ve been driving on all season tyres for years now and it’s never been an issue.
I live in a country with a relatively mild climate, so we don’t really get extreme winters or summers. All season tyres are plenty good enough for the occional light dusting of snow in winter.

48·14 days agoAnnoyingly it also turned the word “lobby” into a contaminated dirty word, even though lobbying is a healthy and important part of a functional democracy.
Any group collectively arguing in favour of their interest to the government is a lobby. That group can be anything from employers, to unions, to civil rights advocates.
The problematic part is the bribery, not the fact that there is interest groups lobbying the government.

19·25 days agoRetro-revival trends happen every few decades in the car world. We were due for another one.
As long as it means interesting looking cars, I’m all for it!

Parliament wants wider and clearer ban on camera glasses
We already have privacy legislation, and it is already not allowed to secretly film someone and share the footage. So parliament is mostly talking about making it more explicit that these camera glasses are not allowed.
They are currently awaiting an advisory on “AI wearables” by the European Committee for Data Protection, which will arrive later this autumn.

Back in 2003 or 2004 I had an MP3 player with 64MB of storage and a USB plug on one end (with a cap to cover it up), which technically counts as a USB stick.
I never used that for anything other than music files though.
My first proper USB stick I got in 2005 and it had 128 MB
