You didn’t read far enough. I voted yes on it as did many others. I was referring to Americans in general. American society in general. A majority shot down this VERY logical proposition. Why? It has nothing to do with the state of California. In fact, a bill like this would do worse in practically any other state.
Americans do. I’m from California and I knew this wouldn’t pass. Americans don’t differentiate between the game (capitalism) and life. Our culture is competitive. According to the rules of the game, we have fealty to our social superiors, because they are the winners of life. It’s not our place to inconvenience them or get in their way. If any of us won, we would expect the same. Anyway, having said that, I voted yes on it. I think it wasn’t enough, but a starting point.

I thought that it was known or admitted that the Democratic party if not Peltola’s campaign did actually have a hand in Sullivan running. Is that not true? Whatever, like the article said, ballot stacking is an old trick and isn’t illegal.

I’ll be damned… I never heard of this and I was 9 when it was aired. I remember The Hobbit and of course Star Wars was the event of the year, and I watched holiday specials religiously back then. I don’t know how I missed it!

Why can’t he? Nobody will stop them. The world should be hoping for a US civil war. Meanwhile, they should build up their defenses (which they are) and even prepare to invade should a civil war happen.

I think it is significantly worse now than it has been in recent times. Both ethically and economically. The US government has been corrupt and committed atrocities around the world, but also put forth an effort to run a society. They aren’t doing that anymore and are more corrupt now than I thought was possible without causing public revolt.
Yes, I think the US as we knew it is gone. We’ll see what happens in November. The fascists will not cede power, so we will see how the country reacts. I’ll bet we just accept it and try to live our lives like most people do. We blew it in '24 when we had a legitimate chance.
