I found him annoying in the first 1-2 seasons of TNG but that wasn’t helped by him being classed as a bit of a nuisance. Not helped by Picard not knowing how to deal with him either. Picard was probably better with the younger kids than an adolescent. And as a 10yo with a father the same age as Picard (or at least Patrick Stewart), the similarities between their “styles” felt like a reflection on my life at the time.
The fact I didn’t like Wesley probably means I didn’t really like myself either thinking about it but that’s a problem for me and my therapist, Dr. Shiraz.

History says no, they won’t. This is the same gaping wound from the civil war - the problem with the country has never been fixed. And that is that a lot of people in the country think they’re more worthy than other to be classified as human.

Honestly, I wish I took your advice. If you’d not said anything, I wouldn’t have looked it up.
That was horrific. What a terrifying last few moments of her life.

There are more flights in general but also there have been severe overworking (and subsequent resignations/lack of uptake) in Air Traffic Control particularly and overworking of pilots. Alas, capitalism is gonna capitalism if corporations run the government and there is less emphasis on safety.

Staffers for fascist sympathiser, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) are reportedly resigning over the lawmaker’s recent decision to endorse former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) in Michigan’s competitive Senate race.

Who says I was making a global statement? I was talking about Australia as a specific example. Let’s not be reading things that aren’t there now.
However, countries that have access to vast areas of sunlight, like those in naturally desert or savannah biomes could and should use solar as an option - and even those that don’t, should supplement their power production with it too. If every roof had solar worldwide, be that home or warehouse/factory, it’d be a huge reduction in the amount of electricity that needed to be provided by a centralised electricity provider.

Battery tech has been there for at least half a decade. Many of Australia’s houses have solar (so much so that we have too much of it during the day so it’s free), and an ever increasing number have batteries. Many don’t need to use grid power ever. It’s not hard. The problem has been fixed.
As more EVs do V2G connections, that will get even less demand. The grid of the future is becoming a lot more decentralised and based off solar and batteries

Do you not have any of your own backyard you could also dig up?

The 80s. The economic mindset of the decade fucked up everything and we’re all still paying the price for Reaganomics.

Thanks for the comedy. I love how wrong you are. About everything you said.
A) it isn’t said online because of context. Everyone you’re talking to face to face will understand what you’re saying from previous parts of the conversation. It’s only online that you talk to people from all over the world in any given conversation so it’s better to be specific about areas. That’s also why people will say “The US” and not America. To many people, America is the continent, both North and South America. This just shows you lack in education and understanding how others see the world probably because you’re selfish and don’t think about other people from other parts of the world.
B) just because you’ve heard of 4chan and probably don’t understand it, you think everything you don’t like/understand comes from there. Such a Boomer take. Everybody would know what you mean if you called someone a USian. Unless they lack in education and understanding how others see the world probably because they’re selfish and don’t think about other people.
C) People do say “Asian people” quite commonly. They probably shouldn’t but they do. Asian means something different in different places too. If you said “Asian” in the UK, they would think you’re meaning India, Pakistan or Bangladesh. In the US, it’d be the “Oriental” countries. From Australia, it could also be used for South East Asia. You’d know this if…insert end line.
D) China and The US aren’t the biggest country in either of their respective continents. China isn’t by physical size OR population. Well done on being ignorant in multiple ways. Calling someone from the Americas “American” isn’t calling them USian, it’s calling them from The Americas. Insert end line.
E) Hemispheres. Western and eastern are colonial concepts and based off the Greenwich Meridian. Northern and Southern are based on a physical attribute of the oblate spheroid we call Earth and useful due to our axial shift. This shows lack of knowledge about the…you know where I’m going with this.
F) if you’re offended, meh, I don’t care. Don’t be a snowflake. Others aren’t. Get over it. I’m not punching down at a maligned group, even if USians do have both a superiority complex and a victim complex simultaneously - honestly the cognitive dissonance inherent in the psyche of the country should be studied.
Anyhoo, good chat.

Lentils are lit.
Seriously, I wish I ate more of them as they’re such a lovely cereal crop that just gets ignored. And cheap af too.

Why not add other cereal crops into your rotation. They’re also very very cheap - like rice, pasta, corn and flour? Add in some cheap herbs and spices to keep the raw ingredients interesting. But you do need protein too. Tinned fish is a good option. As are lentils and beans and also very very cheap. If you can, get from an Asian supermarket. You can certainly gain weight from eating these foods. You can buy cheap tinned vegetables if fresh is too expensive. And try food banks.

I hope all the mink farmers, manufacturers who use the mink fur and those who buy mink clothing all contract bird flu and die.
Simple as that.

Was never a scout but was in the Air Training Corps which is kinda like the teenage air military equivalent (at least in those with “Royal” in their name). It felt like “RAF-lite”, and I think many of my corps ended up in the service after they completed school. Taught lots of skills including firearms, tracking, stealth operations, radio operations, flying, bridge crossing, capturing bases, teamwork, abseiling and how to march, follow orders, hierarchical teams, hospital corners and polish brass and shoes.
Also, a great place for a bunch of teens of all persuasions to hang out together and get together in some instances.

Also how else are you going to pick players for the majors if they don’t go out to the lower leagues.

It’s only ever done online, if you’re taking to people irl, it’s obvious via context. But online is global so it makes sense to talk in a global sense.

I call people from the US that as I respect the other nations in the Americas who are also Americans - from Chilean people to Canadian. All American. Neither of them USian.
But, I do also hate US Defaultism because it shows a lack of knowledge/understanding/awareness which only plays into the stereotypes that people from the US are stupid and ignorant. Which I think is disparaging to (some of) them, and they could show they aren’t by being using self-aware language. Hence, “USian” . It’s like how “woke” originated too - i.e. “awake” to institutional bigotry.
