The real test of whether it is pitiful it is if that person took what was given and ran with it rather than review and modify it.

I think in reality it is more about the arrogance and the trump-adjacent world view. Also, a typical management line about AI being the critical tool to use without regard for its weaknesses.

you speak in logical thought, but in my experience the boss does not care about that. you are expected to do the job in the time allotted and any failure is your responsibility even (and especially) if they pulled you off of that to deal with “more important” priorities in the middle of your work. you will be dinged for failing to complete it by deadline.

this was eventually used to justify laying me off at my last job even though i usually pulled it off.

My short time on a term abroad many years ago in France did not expose me to that. You may well be right. However, the actions they took while doing that To me, it was equivalent to “get the cow”.

tbh the main culprit is ease of use. Icspent time on mastodon looking for content, and finding it is challenging. plus the very nature of federation adds more complexity and non-tech people do not explore because they enjoy it like many tech-heads.

the centralized, spoonfed approach is just simpler. it takes a somewhat hardcore desire for privacy, security to drive one through the difficulty.

i am nit denying that there is discrimination, I’m just pointing out that on average the discrmination goes the other way in recent decades. i am (was) a tech worker. I’m now too old to be hired - another discrimination problem.

if you do a bit of reasearch, you wil find some horror stories from men who are or tried to be elementary school teachers. also, nursing is female dominated and I’ve seen a few unpleasant testimonials. don’t have verfied numbers at hand, but thise shoukd show therlther those are edge cases or common.

that is gender agnostic. as s man i can tell you I’ve been excluded from most opportunities because i am not socially skilled.

on the flip, I’ve neen told by appartment owners that i can’t live there because he felt the other renters (women, all) eould be uncomfortable with a man as a neighbor.

i did not go to the equal opportunity organization to complain. besides, as a man i’d be laughed at and dismissed anyway.

Women currently dominate the job market and educational institutions both as students and teachers. women get the vast majority of grants and discounts for college.

it’s really men who are being discriminated against because “patriarchy”. i am an ex-feminist, btw.
