News@lemmy.world•‘Elonville’: US residents say Musk’s xAI offered to buy homes if they don’t sue over datacenter noise
21·5 days agoNo, they weren’t in a hurry . Look up boca chica, they consistently held to a low value the whole time. This isn’t buying land to build something, they can tolerate people not taking it In the end some people got more money only because the actual value of the land increased because it was unllivable but people could watch SpaceX launches. This will only go down in property value.

101·5 days agoNo it can be just non political where the republican is too moderate so they don’t vote or only vote for a random third party. There are plenty of hard right people that don’t vote especially in deep red or non competitive areas.

21·7 days agoNo SpaceX had been pretty consistently low balling all the people forced out of boca chica and paying them but not enough to get a similar house in a new location with costs rising.

News@lemmy.world•50 middle schoolers were served pretzels with oven cleaner as seasoning: lawsuit
142·8 days agoThe article didn’t seem to say if it was put on before or after baking, but it seems that they probably had the crushed stuff in a plastic bag that looked like salt next to the oven for the pretzels, which would normally come frozen with a little bag of coarse salt. So I wouldn’t really blame the sub worker here, the problem was having the unlabeled cleaner sitting out.

News@lemmy.world•50 middle schoolers were served pretzels with oven cleaner as seasoning: lawsuit
1·8 days agoThat made it a bit confusing but it doesn’t seem to be actual lye or related to actually making pretzels, it wasn’t like they used lye leftover from pretzel making as topping.

8·13 days agoThe, we’re going to spend 10 trillion dollars on new data centers and they will use all the water and power messaging for stock pumping while people see costs increasing and rising water and power bills was a pretty direct and understandable message. Remarkably fast turnaround though ,it shows how most concepts are ossified while this was genuinely new and people were willing to change their minds on it.

No that only works in some instances. A correctly configured not iOS computer should be resistant to that.
