Well so can I, just might take a while…

Sounds like circling the bowl ever since investors became a thought

Might have to spin up a JF instance to check, right now I’m using Emby that JF was forked from some while ago and don’t see anything horrid. About 1GB memory for one that’s been up and running for a good while.

Pretty sure they have a duty to just get more then, can’t very well tell people of a district to just go home cause you didn’t request enough

It’s not so much a question of one vs another. It was asked the most cost effective way to accomplish such.
Last I knew Plex required an ongoing subscription for some aspects that Jelly has for free, so that consideration is part of cost effectiveness.
Personally I have Emby simply out of inertia since I bought a lifetime licence before there was a Jellyfin spun off, but didn’t propose that because it would be an unneeded cost.

It’s basically a web server to play media on the front end and a metadata manager and conversion engine on the back.
Pretty well the same as Plex but there’s less reliance on external services, more truly self contained and less subscription. There are client apps for most streaming boxes that I know of.

Avoiding Plex for something like Jellyfin is a start.
Past that, it doesn’t take a lot to run such a service unless it needs transcoding which is where it gets dicey for realtime streaming.
If you have a standard expected output you might get away with bulk stranscoding ahead of time and then run things on some little nuc or an old laptop.

Ah you mean the libertarian bootstraps-only crowd who hold that society is survival of the fittest, at least until they need something themselves…

Like his reputation is worth more than 10 cents anyway…
“I just want to…”
Strip just and you remove a sense of exclusivity
“I want to…” Does not imply a lack of interest in other things
Exchange it in most cases though and you extend the exclusivity to a global sense
“I only/specifically/singularly want to…”
Gives a sense of unique universal purpose rather than a simple specific task of the moment

More public for AI training as well then

Within 49’ you could hear most without special tools

The one weasel notion that I wonder about, what if he was elected VP and the president stepped down directly after? Then he wasn’t elected a 3rd time but placed by successions. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them try some such fuckary.

See? Cancun Ted was right, the trans witches are trying to turn all the kids into gay frogs for an October surprise by putting hormones into their Halloween candy…
It looks like good info, but the timing is a bit suspect in terms of it it’s some kind of agit-prop goal since the info isn’t going to be stale in a month
I guess an alternate take if it was politicaly motivated, get the kids to speak up and make the issue real and personal to some swayable adults around them

Perhaps, I suppose one could also say that the entire planet is land though, just that some of it happens to be underwater. If we need to maintain a constant amount of sea water we could make the planet donut shaped, one large column of water running through the middle hole which would then allow more land to be above sea level, allowing for more habitable space and diversity?
Homer Simpson as a god, mmm donut planet…

On a functional basis I expect some sort of belt around the equatorial region or perhaps a bit outside of it, whatever makes for the most fertile and productive land.
It’d be particularly full but would probably also eliminate a lot of global conflict since one chunk of clay would be about the same as a other, far less reason to fight over territory.

When I say support it’s more in the sense of software patches and the like rather than account support, but I can’t say that’s the only reason .world stays, I’m not even part of the instance, just that it makes things less straight forward than other instances.
The fediverse at large tends to be more progressive leaning, some just take it to a place where principals that might be generally leftist are made compulsary and any deviation is an offense.

The problem with .ml is the primary software devs are the ones that run it, so defederating them leaves instances without the official support coms.
I would 't say they, or the other auth-left instances exist just to troll, many seem like honest believers in their statements, but they could certainly be considered hostile to any sort of support for western culture.

It’s not purely instance based, but there are more auth-left/tankie centric instances that can cut down a big chunk of the noise
Well if you don’t have 1GB in your server and want to pay for a lifetime pass instead I guess go nuts? It’s odd that people seem to get so upset over not paying a subscription in a self hosting comm. Functionally if you don’t mind a less polished interface you could just do something like stream via VLC from a NAS too.
