Technology@lemmy.world•Cisco gives 27-year-old engineer unlimited AI tokens to rewrite 98% of the company's legacy code in 24 months — president plucks former startup founder, telling him to 'go nuts'.English
5·5 days agoEvery single person who actually does work for a living at that company said no, so when the final decision maker found themselves isolated and ridiculed, they decided the collective experience of their employees was meaningless and did this.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a piece of media that literally changed the world/had a real world impact?
1·7 days agoYes all of those are exploits of that bug. How many kids cry when they learn Santa isn’t real?
Take a look at history to see what happens when one group of people get told their imaginary friend is the fake one and they have to switch to a different one

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I need to change careers but I’m scared. If you ever did this, how did you power through and didn’t feel like a loser for wasting time?
3·12 days agoYou have options as a nurse. There are companies that hire nurses for non physical work, like call centers that man “ask a nurse” lines for example. There are even legal specialists that have medical backgrounds, and data-centeic jobs like handling medical records that hire trained nurses to make triage-like decisions based only on the records.
Your medical background and experience is valuable to people outside that industry too!
If you’re ok with some physically demanding aspects but the people side of things gets to you, being a veterinarian or adjacent role might be a good compromise.
