1·20 days agoDon’t worry about vpn failures. I have used headscale for a long uninterrupted time. Yes, eventually you may need physical access. That event is as frequent as having a broken boot partition :p be careful to read changelogs when applying updates or have some other means to access of you will… Just saying that for me it has worked perfectly fine.

Technology@lemmy.world•Drone strikes didn’t take out a Russian bot farm, but we were primed to believe itEnglish
72·22 days agoA proxy only routes traffic while the cpu cycles are happening elsewhere, allegedly, the data center that went offline.
Your argument only makes sense if those proxies are more than just routing network packets but also hosting the actual code of those bots. Oh, and you’d also need to assume there’s no c&c, the bots should be autonomous. Else there’s the single point of failure. If there’s a c&c then they can all go offline with a strike.

1·3 months agoSounds great. Who’s stefano? Since I don’t know them and the source code is not published yet I am uncertain about this.
And can you explain what’s the lighthouses method to bypass NAT? Never heard of it. Seems like the model for this app is p2p-like more than “strict self-host” (similar to scuttlebutt and other projects), am I right?

You reapply/ reload database and do all the recovery procedure on a clean new installation for everything. Disaster recovery is much a thing together with backup. Depends on your infra how to proceed in concrete steps.
