  • Maybe it’s a fad like it was in the 70s and 90s.

The current fashion for young people is vintage, recycled or unique items.

Generally consumers are more quality minded too. I suppose the Temu/Shein influx made people more conscious of their consumption or something.

New regulations also ban companies from discarding surplus textile products, so basically everyone from politicians, consumers and companies are working to kill fast fashion.

It’s not recession. The second hand stuff is more expensive than Temu. Quality costs.

  • I wouldn’t choose to describe my personality as revolving around liking or disliking anything specific. Things change.

It’s more relevant to use adjectives for values. I got this as an assignment some years ago where I found my words to be “brave” and “curious”.

So, instead of using your hate for big tech as your whole personality, you should consider what values you have that creates your current position on that subject.

People can hate big tech for different reasons, like the “we are not the same”-meme always points out.

You dislike big tech because you’re a young alternative free thinker, I dislike big tech because I’m a stubborn old idiot, we’re not the same.

  • Some people plug their ears when they hear anything unpleasant. This is extremely unpleasant to read about, so it needs to be repeated over and over again.

I have read about it before, but I still can’t really understand it. It is difficult to imagine how something like this happens without ever having been in such a situation. It’s a natural defense mechanism to downplay the severity of it in an attempt to create the belief that it can be avoided if it should happen to yourself. That’s were victim blaming cones from too. “It won’t happen to be because I would have done this instead”.

The more detailed descriptions help me better grasp the horror of it and how the victims got lured into the situations.

  • Yes, poetry can be art too, but that’s because the use of the words creates meaningful associations to something that expresses more than the words themselves describe.

AI reads the prompt the same way that we read poetry and then delivers its attempts to describe the associations that it learned. At best, AI could recreate the role of a really obnoxious poetry critic, but it will never be the artist.

  • I daydream until I sleep. It takes 60 seconds or so at most.

Recently I’ve been thinking about how I would make a camp if I were in a situation like in a survival show. Building stuff and such. Sometimes I’ll go all sci-fi and settle on a different planet. Whatever it is, it’s never about something from real life or work or real persons. That’d only keep me awake.

  • Denmark doesn’t have a separate law about winter tyres, because it’s already covered by the overall traffic law, which only states that the driver is responsible for not using obviously unsuitable tyres.

In practice, this is the same as in Germany. In snow conditions the tyres must have the “snowflake in a mountain” marker, or the police can write a fine.

The reason for not making a more specific law is that some people prefer to drive summer tyres all year round and just not drive on the few days when there’s snow.

  • I’m surprised they found people in Finland with the necessary machines willing to do the work. Clearing hectares of forest is so much different from regular forest work. Even if they cut down thousands of trees daily, this is not how it’s done, and they ought to know.

What’s the point anyway. There’s no good reason to clear such a large area just for one building.

There’s a data center near me, and it’s the same. Large clear area and high security fences just for a small ordinary warehouse sized building. It looks more like a military complex than an industrial facility. What’s the reason? They want security to be able to guard the place with a gatling gun or something? What do they expect to happen in the future to warrant such design?

  • Nobody outside UK cares about the colour of the passport, the Sterling or their non-metric measurements. As far as I’m concerned they can keep all that garbage.

UK however had some privileges in accepting EU legislation as they saw fit. All the while being a net receiver of EU funding. That just doesn’t add up.

This special treatment is exactly what caused Brexit to begin with. UK was never really all in on EU.

If they want to rejoin, they’d better be all in on collaboration with EU, instead of cherry picking as they were before.
