  • Oh I believe them. But I also see that he built a fairly successful company focused on privacy (and security) and despite everything he has done lately they, the company, are listening to users (albeit quite slow) and they have no obligations to investors and that is one of their more important premises. So while I agree that Yen really needs to go, I still like Proton as a whole and I sincerely hope that whoever comes after Yen will be better and not worse than him…

  • I will wait how the situation at Proton evolves I have recently prolonged so I am not in hurry. Right now nothing changes the fact that most of the services are still e2e and more secure than most alternatives, if that changes I have no problem switching. And I find encouraging that despite Yen being an ass there is actually good amount of employees that consider what they do in Proton their mission and they have passion for it and I hope Andy won’t squash that…

  • Interesting. When I first saw the post on 404 I couldn’t quite believe it, but I guess i thought them to be more respectable. But I guess at the end of the day non-sensational articles don’t make money 🤷 for me the truth is somewhere in the middle I guess. I think Proton should consider replacing Andy anyway, but I think it’s doubtful it will happen.

  • I am using Garmin venu 2 with gadgetbridge and I can confidently say the sync got so much better lately, it even integrates now with endurain and auto upload my workouts. The only thing that I think is less then ideal is agps (assisted gps), basically I had to setup cron job that downloads the agps file every day and stores it where gadgetbridge sees it (smb share) and can provide it to the watch on request. Without this it took 15+ minutes to lock gps…

  • I don’t forget stuff (yet). On the contrary, I remember when I was using my phone, leaving my wallet home, because “i didn’t need it” and then it for some reason didn’t work and it was quite embarrassing. Happened to me more than once, so I ended up carrying my wallet with me anyway… Technology have a weird tendency to stop working at the exactly wrong time! And I say that as a long time developer. 😅

  • My nas takes about 40 Wh. And my network machine (proxmox + openwrt) about 20 Wh. When I upgraded my nas a year ago it was actually drawing twice as much, I have since then switched to more efficient processor (amd from normal to E) and I took out graphic card that I didn’t use. I could have in theory merge those two, but I wanted to separate networking from nas+apps. I don’t know how much my smart devices take but I don’t have many so it can be up to 50 Wh total maybe. But that is more smart home than self hosting 😀
