Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there any way to restore sticky degraded rubber surfaces?
1·11 days ago303 aerospace conditioner is what we use for raft rubber. Works for tires and a lot of plastics if they’re not too far gone (needs original structure, can fix texture). To be clear though it’s basically straight PFAS so if that is a concern I’d probably just try to fine a replacement part. A lot of electronics get broken cords so if you can find a busted one on eBay that’s maybe the better choice.

71·12 days agoOnly for the hyper scale centralized compute llms. Real machine learning tools predate and will persist past the bubble pop, but data center cloud based llms will go the way of the dodo one way or the other. Which is a disaster for the big companies that want to sell you compute as a utility, but really totally fine for most everyone else.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You’ve been tasked with defining a new area of criminal law called “economic and financial violence,” and creating laws to prevent it. What actions would you try to criminalize?
5·13 days agoNumber too low. Unfortunately it’s pretty difficult to start something like a worker owned low income housing collective or even something like a car repair shop with just a measly million. Small business would grind to a halt and big business would eat everyone’s lunch.

News@lemmy.world•Rep. Ilhan Omar says she will move out of her Washington, DC, home after federal search
21·13 days agoYeah this has to be part of it. A raid like this isn’t just a raid, it also signals that any protection of her by the law from others has been withdrawn. So any asshole with a gun could (and according to the stale Cheeto should) cause her problems. Being effectively doxxed by the government isn’t a great position from an opsec standpoint.

201·13 days agoI wonder if military base housing would be safer or less safe for her. Starting to wonder when the career military folks who spent their lives and watched friends sacrifice theirs to fight the ongoing cold war conflicts are going to realize Donnie has betrayed them.
Idk I mostly sit on my ass and post on the Internet actually. Not really active.

1·1 month agoI mean it’s objectively awesome. So. Maybe they are greedy but they made a really cool game.
Well it’s impossible to lie about something you don’t understand, that’s just called being wrong. And I may be. But I’d argue that while AI has solved notable math problems and created notable security patches and hacks it is not actually “better” than all humans at those things; and I’d be astounded if someone who had actual expertise, which your comment shows no proof of, agreed with you.
They’re good at things you’re not good at. If you’re good at something, and you see them try to do it, they’re shite.
