in the game there are not ppl alive anymore, but you use it to “dispose” a lot of angry turrets and eventually get the endboss to hurt themselves.

it’s nice to see that the answers basically all revolve about having someone useful in your hand instead of being good at killing things
i was just imagining myself, with severe adhd, forgetting that I’m holding something in my hand… xD
wasn’t the entire second movie about the question, whether it’s a weapon or a walk assistant?

2·27 days agoyeah, i understand you. i don’t want to use my phone for every single thing either. in particular I’m not using it when I’m home. but in this case it’s really nice for me personally, because stuff that i marked disappears from the top and often my wife and i go together, so having a synced up list is neat

1·27 days agothe app doesn’t have access to any of my phones data now. it runs in an isolated environment once every two weeks for about a minute, otherwise I’m only using their web API. so they might ban me, but yeah, it’s not that i would care much ;)

4·28 days agoyeah, Whatsapp really stinks in this regard. i have it in an isolated environment on my phone (called shelter), where it is frozen most of the time. you need to switch it on once every two weeks, and the bridge will tell you when.
at some point I’ll dump it on a phone which is just in a drawer at home, together with all the other BS apps.
i tried waydroid as alternative, but somehow didn’t really make it work (didn’t put much effort into it though)

6·28 days agoso, I’m self hosting for many years, with many many tools that i tried out and a couple that stuck.
not sure if this counts as weird, but I guess the most fitting example is the following:
i have a matrix server, which basically only a few relatives use to communicate with me, but I make heavy use of the bridges, so i don’t need to run those shit apps like Whatsapp on my phone.
anyway, i really dislike voice messages, because most of the time i read messages at the computer or in the tram and i don’t want to get headphones out, or simply don’t want to listen to five minutes of car noise to get the information off the words. so when my next productive episode comes I’m planning to set up a matrix bot that sends those audio files to some stt engine and returns a transcript to the chat. I’ll set up the bridge to ignore this bot, so the whatsnot user doesn’t get spammed.

8·28 days agofor this my wife and i use grocy. we don’t really use the stock feature (which is probably the original main feature), bit is nice to do shipping lists by just clicking stuff that you already wrote and the shopping mode of the app is awesome. also the chores feature we use heavily, i just needed to tweak the ics export a bit.

8·1 month agoconsumer grade vs Enterprise grade. the letter are meant to run non-stop and are often just discarded due to upgrade, not due to problems.

I’m using authelia for a while now. never had any issues. at some point i was looking into kanidm as more rounded up solution, but i never got around to rest it.
