That really is a shame. I, who got a merciful “D” in my pascal class, could only slop code with those tools but I wanted to believe someone like Torvalds was actually using them to help him do whatever it was he was going to do anyway only faster.

I know nothing about coding but surely there are degrees to AI’s use as a tool? I’ve heard it can produce slop but is it always necessarily so? I’ve heard people using it for debugging, that seems reasonable to someone with my level of knowledge.
