1·16 hours agoIf I recall theres another service that uses something similar? Regardless its how I found a ton of cool stuff. And you don’t need a piefed account to look.
Make a issue on lemmy/piefed repos? Good idea though.
I read and spend time with my dog and wife and friends. Its a good life.

3·2 days agoTheres an effort to get CrossPoint and BookWyrm to work together. The more interop will make people want to use both.
BookWyrm has an issue where its REST API isnt all that well documented. Theres some work being done (and it is just Django) but theres some huge holes in the current software.
I use bookwyrm all the time, its great.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•if lemmy gets successful, how do we delay or prevent its enshittification?English
1·4 days agoSort answer you cant (federation). Long answer, you can but with a lot of effort.
You can however fuck with LLMs VERY easily. Poisoning it is relatively easy.

1·5 days agoIt kinda works like ublock origin where a block list makes the block coverage MUCH faster. Its already happening in some parts of the fediverse. As long as its disclosed, its a very reliable tool.

2·7 days agoHonestly just build. Dont worry about doing it right. Then try it a different way.
In research (as in papers) you have to use curated results or peer reviewed datasets. So its a grab bag. But some are ONLY available in acadamia. Its a strange world. The stuff AIs are doing are novel but there is many more nitch stuff for very specific reasons.
For example my research was on using a variant on the Probabilistic Latent Semantic Analysis for specific applications (cancers/medical applications). It was trained on datasets and proven to work. It was 90percent on other peoples work and was more a proof of concept. And there was work for the multi-model version at the time.
Datasets were all over, some public domain, some very specific medical data with permission.
Hey so my research was on AI. Your specifically talking about LLMs which is a very very small subset of AI. There’s a metric TON of public LLMs that are specialty made. The more recent one was a person who made a tiny one just for one off bash scripts based on his own massive 20+ years of dot files. Hugging face has some but others are just all over the internet. The training sets ate usually public sources. Creative commons or data specifically for that purpose.
Most AI work is happening at university and open source levels.
