He’s appealing to the huge swathes of the public who have absolutely NO idea how to actually identify intelligence.
It’s actually difficult enough where the stupidest people can’t figure it out, and they use confidence, volume, wealth, and flowery language as a proxy.
Even when you do get people to accept that information is an important part, ANOTHER huge swath of people don’t understand the difference between information and intelligence.
In short, there’s a very small part of the population that can even IDENTIFY what an intelligent person looks like, so he gets away with this.

Why do you need so much RAM? Just use fewer programs
Even a broken clock…

Holy shit do people need to get educated on Occam’s Razor.

Unless you are making big money, you probably already own the most powerful open gaming machine you will ever own for the rest of your life. Which is auspicious timing - the entire PC gaming DEVELOPMENT industry will implode when it becomes clear nobody can afford machines to build new games on, or to play them on, so you won’t have new games on PC to BUY. If you must have modern games, you’re gonna have to enter one of the approved walled gardens.
The good times are over, people. The era is coming to an end.

Yeah, that’s it.

64 kb should be enough for anybody.

They don’t care about stock drops right NOW, because it’s going to be a captive market soon enough. You’ll either use cloud-based AI or have no computing whatsoever.
Hoard now, people. The end is coming.

I’m sorry I ever doubted Prince.

There are such things as mitigating circumstances, but those are supposed to be considered in a COURT OF LAW by a JUDGE. Not by self decree.

Objectively you are right. A name doesn’t mean anything.
But it’s 2026 - it’s delusional to still view human beings as rational creatures who make decisions or judgments on an objective, logical basis.
If there were an Android app that cured cancer, 20% of patients would still die waiting for an iOS port. The reality is that getting people to accept something en masse means tailoring it to their philistine, banal, pedestrian expectations.

You named it GIMP. It’s a joke to YOU, too.

Let me check between my couch cushions…

“Thank God WE’RE okay, unlike those poors.”
-Families making JUST a little bit more who are going to be in the exact same boat next year

I would absolutely welcome being wrong and that there’s a chance to fix things, but in my heart of hearts, I subscribe to the John Gustafson Sr view about hope.

This is GOOD news. We’re letting air out of the bubble and, hopefully, healthily redistributing it across the economy into BUSINESSES THAT DO SOMETHING WITH VALUE.
