Sceptre still makes them. I bought a 50" 4K from walmart under that brand a few years ago

19·6 days agoIs there a list of known affected models? It wasn’t clear from the article whether they were a contract manufacturer for Google’s own devices or if they were a 3rd party brand option.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the biggest dick move you've pulled that you were able to completely justify?
311·9 days agoOh look, another jagoff who doesn’t understand consent.
If you think being a dick behind an anonymous internet comment is somehow constructive or going to change the behavior of someone who already admitted they made a mistake and were asking for help, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. All you’ve done is encourage this person not to speak to the next time they make a mistake.
Like holy shit dawg, I hope you don’t treat people like this in your day-to-day life.
I’m sure you’ve never forgotten something or made a mistake ever.

1·28 days agoI mean, it’s likely that a good chunk of these hyperscale data centers and some of these big corporate LLMs will run out of cash and close shop. We’ll probably see a big pivot to much more efficient models that are local and/or purpose-built, not unlike what the Chinese are already doing.

1·28 days agoAn economic bubble doesn’t require that the assets suddenly disappear upon the bubble popping.
The 2008 financial crisis was caused in part by the popping of a real estate bubble in the US. Those properties didn’t magically evaporate after the bubble popped, though many families couldn’t afford to keep their homes.
In the same manner, nobody is really suggesting that LLMs will suddenly disappear after the AI bubble pops, only that they will probably be proven to be significantly less profitable and get scaled back.
Yeah no shit, I judge my coworkers who rely on chatbots. What a revelation
