It’s been irritating and frustrating to watch; gamers nexus is honestly a way better source these days - not to mention, imo they are unironically one of the absolute best investigative journalists out there at this point. They’ve broken a number of very deep-dive stories, some of which have turned into big deals in the wider news media landscape (see: Intel gen 13/14 CPUs).
It really does seem like using sanctioned Russian funds to drive the repairs should be an obvious, natural, open-and-shut choice here. But there are still a bunch of EU politicians that seem to be entirely too goddamn limpdick about the entire situation vis a vis Russia.
For those who are too lazy to dig into this: it’s effectively a political non-starter, and does not appear to have a remotely serious chance of becoming a French law.
For those unaware, they are obliquely referring to the NPVIC
We would have also accepted “weird flex but ok”
Yeah, in 2000, in Florida, and that’s how W got elected the first time.
Look into what happened in the 2000 election around Florida, and how the SC got involved
That is part of how elections are run in the US, yes. There is, by design, no centralized federal voting system.
Seems like that “no recounts” rule is probably gonna be challenged up to the Supreme Court (of the US, not MS), regardless of who technically wins the election
Point of order:
They’re not really “far left”. In most other countries, they’d probably be considered centrist, and in some cases, center-right.
Anyways: part of what I hope happens here is that the DCCC establishment understands that they’re being put on notice, and that at least some reps accept that the political winds have materially changed.
Yeah, I don’t for the life of me understand why the progressive wing doesn’t just say “fuck that” and just refuse to line up behind the establishment. This is actually a perfect time for a Democratic Party schism, now that the legislature has been wrested from the fascists (I know, there’s still certification and swearing in, but I’d consider challenges in those domains to be kind of intrinsically extralegal). The DCCC old guard got us here, and it’s well past time we took away their keys and drivers license.
Well, yeah, ideally, but this is all likely by design, as the (Republican) MS government was surely trying to suppress voters and make it harder overall to vote.
One might even say that she learned her lesson
This sort of idiotic bandwagoning unmoored from reality and sensibility is one of the big reasons I no longer treat the stock market with any seriousness. The market drops because… checks notes… the unsustainable bubble that is already starting to pop is probably going to get reined in, and tariffs are probably going to be repealed leading to increased international trade…? 😐
Let’s put a finer point on it:
Yes, white Nationalist Christian heterosexual men (and women) have made themselves targets by being massive hypocrites and religious extremists.
Nobody outside of any given religious extremist group tends to actually like said religious extremist group. Their beliefs are tuned to actively exclude and persecute people who aren’t in their group, and it is comically ironic to hear people from those groups whinge about intolerance, when intolerance is a foundational element of their beliefs. They are targets because of their religious extremism, much like Salafism/Wahhabism is for Islam, or Zionism/Israeli Nationalism is for Judaism.
I can too - but at the same time, a lot of the extra time I’m putting in is using the clankers to more quickly address tech debt issues that we have been punting on for literal years (do not get me started on the priorities of my manager and our PM)
What the fuck do you think simping for billionaires will get you?
This is class warfare. You will not be thanked or rewarded for what you are doing. They expect you to fall in line. If you actually care about your fellow humans and citizens, disabuse them of that notion.
I mean, yeah. We have selective regulation - and selective enforcement of said selective regulation - already. If you’re trading enough significant figures, the SEC demonstrably does not give a flying fuck what you do in the vast majority of cases.

I think it’s a fair bit more deterministic than that.
From the articles that I have read, the Austrians at least are gunshy about “stealing” from the Russians and becoming a target for their hostility. So, yeah; good call, appease them, because that’s definitely never ever turned out extremely poorly in the past 🙄
